My Brother and I are holding a "Ham Benefit Picnic" on Sunday August 21st, 2005 from noon to 5pm to benefit a friend whose wife has re-contracted cancer. The picnic will be at Nelson Park, in Sterling Heights, Mi and is located on 15 mile between Ryan and Dequindre roads on the North side of 15 Mile Rd. We are asking for $10.00 donations and all proceeds go to Dan and his wife for expenses related to her cancer treatment. We will be serving Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and some refreshments. You may bring a dish to pass if you like and we would appreciate it very much. You may also bring something other than dogs or burgers and I will cook it up on the grill for you (within reason, please! I am NOT a gourmet chef by any means!) and you may bring your own refreshments if you like. Children are invited as well. Talk in will be on 147.480 simplex if you need directions to the park. The park is right on 15 mile and you really can't miss it! I hope to see you all there! I will be doing the cooking on the grill, so you will know where to find me! '73 Dennis - N8BMB

Due to a "scheduling conflict" with the City of Sterling Heights, the Benefit Picnic has been moved to Joseph Delia Park, located on 18 Mile Rd West of Ryan.
Everything else remains the same, including the talk-in frequency of 147.480 simplex.
I still hope to see you all there!

A big THANK YOU to those of you who showed for the picnic. It was nice to meet some of you who I had not yet met but talk to quite often. Your donation to the fund was greatly appreciated and Dan and Theresa were extremely grateful.
Sadly, we could only muster $110.00. But every little bit helps. I will keep you posted on Theresa's progress right here.
I may plan another picnic, depending on Theresa's progress and will again let everyone know.
It was disappointing that many of you who stated you would be there, did not show. That was upsetting. Why even say you would be there?? Why not "I need to check the calendar and get back to you on that"? This is one of my biggest pet peeves. If you didn't intend on going, then say so. I could never understand how some people could be like that. IMO, THAT'S RUDE!!!!!
Anyway, enough ranting.
Again, to those who came out, THANK YOU!!!!
