Dennis, ignore this. ;D
So, I'm filling up with gas, and before I go inside to pay for it, I drop something on the floor inside the Jeep. I reach down to get it, then lock the door, (as I always do) and go in to pay.
Coming out, I can't find my keys. I know I left my "main" key in the ignition, but I always carry an extra key to prevent this sort of thing from happening. Where is it???
Sure enough - it's on the floor of the car, where I reached down to pick something up before going in to pay for my gas.
Now what? I don't have the money to pay some tow truck driver to come out and "slim jim" the Jeep.
So I go back inside, and the attendant doesn't have any coathangers like I suggested.
Fortunately, I do have power door locks, so I know I only have to reach the button for them. But how?
The top of my Jeep is an antenna farm, growing very nicely I might add. (If I plant something in the garden, it dies. But antennas I can grow! LOL!) I get an idea...
I remove one of my 5/8 wave farm members and begin to snake it into my cracked window. (Luckily, I left them cracked tonight!) After some snaking around, I manage to reach the power door lock switch on the opposite side of the Jeep. I didn't even have to bend the antenna!
Saved by Ham Radio again!
Then, on the way home, as I'm ragchewing with N8HTV and N8BMB, a dog, (coyote??) wanders out onto the dark road in front of me. At 80km/h, I was unable to stop completely before hitting the poor thing.
I didn't kill him. I heard him whining quite loudly on the road behind me, but by the time I pulled off the road to check things out, he had made his way past my vehicle, still whining and limping a little, but obviously alive and moving. I checked out my front end, and all looked well. (You can't kill a Jeep with a dog. )
As I'm heading back into the Jeep to go find the dog, a car going the other way stops.
"Are you looking for your dog?"
"No! I just HIT that dog," I says.
"I just about did too! The darn thing is wandering all over the road!"
LOL! Am I looking for my dog, she says...
Finally... I make it home... well, my new home. I'm moving...
That's yet another adventure...
*Whew!* What a day...
