Hey Everyone, Well its getting to be that season again. Yes that is right, severe weather season is upon us. For those of you who live in Canada, the above lniks has a link to Canada's "CanWarn" program/network. Well here in the U.S. the schedule for the "Skywarn" spotter classes has been set. If you are intrested in severe weather spotting on the skywarn nets on the ham bands you need to take this free class. Here is a link to the National Weather Service in Detroit for the list of skywarn classes in southeast Michigan... www.crh.noaa.gov/dtx/?page=spotter/summerIf you live outside of southeast Michigan and you wish to find a schedule for your area please let me know and I will do my best to find a schedule for your area. If you have any questions reguarding this feel free to let me know. 73, Shannon

Some linked repeater system links for Michigan / Ontario areas: www.w8hvg.org/ <-- The IRA (Independent Repeater Association) operates a network of repeaters, mostly on 2M, but some on 70cm (440). This network is interlinked via the 220Mhz band, and covers practically all of lower Michigan, and the Eastern end of the U.P. Here's a coverage map: n8obu.com <-- The CMAN (Central Michigan Amateur Network) also has a linked repeater system covering a good portion of Michigan, and even part of Ontario. Their primary focus is to provide a linked network of repeaters for emergency use, but do allow for general amateur use when no emergencies currently exist. They fully endorse and support Skywarn weather spotting, and work with local and state law enforcement agencies to enhance communications when required. Here's their coverage map: Here's an newer enhanced version of their coverage map: www.qsl.net/w8oak/ <-- Oakland County Amateur Radio Public Service Corps. Also home of the Oakland County ARES / RACES www.wa8mac.net/ <-- Macomb County ARES / RACES. mcrca.org/ <-- Munroe County ARES / RACES. www.waynecountyarpsc.org/ <-- Wayne County ARES / RACES www.dougcox.com/races/ <-- Washtenaw County RACES. www.dougcox.com/races/files/whatisares.html <-- Washtenaw County ARES. www.dougcox.com/races/files/skywarn_quick_ref.html <-- Washtenaw County Skywarn.
