Score one for the good guys! The only tough part is the "free speech" thing. It's going to be hard for the courts to have exceptions to that rule. (Like why don't they include the Spam at your regular mailbox, for example?) But I know for a fact that ISPs are behind this in a big way. It's their servers that get bogged down with this useless traffic, and their customers who complain and even cancel accounts with them to be rid of it. Thank goodness the law is starting to clamp down on this crap!

No, you didn't understand my point.
"Junk mail" is apparently not illegal, Dennis. Spam is.
That's the distinction I'm referring to.

Junk mail delivery is paid for by the advertisers, and is essentially the lifeblood of the Postal Service. (After all, bills usually show up only once per month.) SPAM, on the other hand, makes no money for the ISPs, clogs their servers, costs them accounts (money), so IMO, this is why the spammers are being hauled to court, similar to the RIAA hauling kids to court for downloading tunes. If affects THEIR profits, real or imagined. Personally, I prefer the original anti-spam law. The one that also prevented people from sending junk faxes, by being able to charge them up to $500 per occurrence.
